Ring in the New Year 2019 surprised me! This whole year was full of opportunities and opened doors I couldn’t have dreamed of. I think my hashtag for this season of life has been #blessed. Don’t misunderstand me, life is always filled with hills and deep valleys but there is a peace only found in following Jesus every step of the way. That peace has a way of helping me every day. Quiet time and worship remain staples in my life. They have served me in so many ways. The Lord began speaking to me about quiet time when I was in High School, around 10th grade. I cannot explain it, but He impressed on me the importance of downtime spent with Him. I just knew I had more direction, more peace, and more self-esteem when I spent time with Him. I knew I could thrive through my toughest days because when I enter into a time of worship; I confess my sins, the Lord forgives my sins, and lightens my burdens all while praising Him.
The words in my new book “True Leaders with Heart” all came from my personal quiet time. They came from years of writing words to keep my spirit meditating on scripture instead of worrying about everything. I had a bad habit, and still fight this habit today, of thinking on the negative. I imagined how things would NOT work out, instead of expecting things to bring God glory. I always spent time worrying over what would happen after my demise and after nothing worked as planned. Meditating on the True Word of God is my daily practice. I also started the practice of yoga to help center myself on who God says I am. I promise you; I had no idea I was writing a book. In fact, I had no aspirations of ever writing a book. The people closest to me read my words and encouraged me to turn the mediations into a book. I want to encourage you to stay faithful to the Lord and see how He surprises you.
